Policy on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools

1. Policy Statement

The Journal of Computer and Communication Networks supports transparency, integrity, and accountability in scholarly publishing. In line with the DOAJ Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and COPE guidelines, the journal permits the limited use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools while requiring full disclosure, human accountability, and editorial oversight.

AI tools must not replace human authorship, scholarly judgment and ethical responsibility at any stage of the publication process.

2. Use of Generative AI Tools by Authors

2.1 Permitted Use

Authors may use Generative AI tools only for language-related assistance, such as:

Grammar correction
Spelling checks
Improving clarity and readability
Formatting and stylistic refinement

AI tools must not be used to generate original scholarly content. Authors remain fully responsible for the intellectual content of their work.

2.2 Prohibited Use

Generative AI tools must not be used to:

Generate, analyze, manipulate, or interpret research data, results, figures, tables, or images
Produce scientific arguments, methodologies, analyses, or conclusions
Fabricate, falsify, or alter citations, references, or factual information
Substitute human intellectual contribution

Such uses are considered violations of publication ethics.

2.3 Authorship Responsibility

Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors.

All listed authors are fully accountable for:

The originality of the manuscript
The accuracy of data and citations
Compliance with ethical and publication standards

This responsibility applies regardless of whether AI tools were used for language assistance.

2.4 Mandatory Disclosure of AI Use

In accordance with DOAJ transparency requirements, any use of AI tools must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript.

Disclosure must appear in the Acknowledgments section.

Recommended disclosure statement:

“The authors used [tool name, version, and provider] for language editing and proofreading. The authors take full responsibility for the content of the manuscript.”

Failure to disclose AI use or evidence of inappropriate AI involvement may result in rejection, correction, or retraction.

3. Use of Generative AI Tools by Editors and Reviewers

3.1 Confidentiality

Editors and reviewers must not upload or share manuscript content (including text, data, figures, or peer-review reports) with AI tools or third-party platforms. All manuscripts and reviews are confidential.

3.2 Editorial Integrity

AI tools must not be used to:

Assess scientific quality
Generate peer-review reports
Make editorial decisions

All editorial and peer-review decisions are made exclusively by human editors and reviewers.

3.3 Limited Permitted Use

Editors or reviewers may use AI tools only for minor internal language support, such as improving grammar in personal notes. Such use must not influence editorial judgment.

4. Transparency, Ethics, and Compliance

The journal applies the same ethical standards to all submissions, regardless of AI use
AI use does not affect peer review rigor or editorial independence
Suspected misuse of AI is handled following COPE flowcharts and procedures

This policy is reviewed periodically to ensure continued compliance with:

DOAJ Principles of Transparency
COPE Core Practices
International best practices in scholarly publishing

Ansis Publications reserves the right to update this policy as standards and technologies evolve.
