Publication Ethics

The Journal of Computer and Communication Networks (JCCN) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, ethical publishing, and transparency. The journal follows internationally recognized best practices and ethical guidelines, particularly those established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), DOAJ Principles of Transparency, and OASPA.

All stakeholders involved in the publication process including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher are expected to adhere strictly to these ethical standards.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to JCCN must ensure that:

  • The submitted work is original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • All data are accurate, verifiable, and honestly reported.
  • Proper acknowledgment and citation of all sources are provided.
  • All conflicts of interest (financial or non-financial) are fully disclosed.
  • Necessary ethical approvals, informed consent, and permissions have been obtained where applicable.
  • Authorship accurately reflects individual contributions, and all authors approve the final manuscript prior to submission.

The following practices are strictly prohibited:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication or falsification
  • Duplicate or redundant submission
  • Unethical authorship practices
Authorship Policy

An author is defined as an individual who has made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, execution, analysis, or interpretation of the study, and has participated in drafting or revising the manuscript.

  • All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the submission.
  • Any change in authorship after submission requires written consent from all authors.
  • ORCID iDs are required for corresponding authors and strongly encouraged for all authors.
Editorial Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making editorial decisions based solely on scholarly merit, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
  • Ensuring a fair, unbiased, and confidential peer review process.
  • Managing conflicts of interest and recusing themselves when appropriate.
  • Safeguarding the confidentiality of manuscripts.
  • Addressing ethical concerns and allegations of misconduct in accordance with COPE flowcharts and guidelines.

Editorial independence is strictly maintained, and commercial considerations do not influence editorial decisions.

Peer Review Ethics
  • JCCN employs a double-blind peer review process.
  • Reviewers are selected based on subject expertise, independence, and absence of conflicts of interest.
  • Manuscripts must be treated as confidential documents.
  • Reviews should be objective, constructive, and professional, without personal criticism.
  • Reviewers must disclose conflicts of interest and decline review if objectivity cannot be maintained.
Plagiarism and Similarity Checking

All submissions are screened using Crossref Similarity Check (iThenticate).

  • Manuscripts with plagiarism, excessive similarity, or improper citation may be rejected.
  • Confirmed cases of misconduct may result in rejection, correction, retraction, or sanctions, following COPE guidelines.
Conflicts of Interest

All authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence or appear to influence the work.

  • Declared conflicts are published alongside the article when relevant.
  • Failure to disclose conflicts may result in corrective editorial action.
Data Integrity and Reproducibility
  • Authors are encouraged to provide access to datasets, code, and materials necessary to reproduce the research.
  • Data availability statements are required where applicable.
  • Fabrication, manipulation, or selective reporting of data constitutes serious misconduct.
Citation Manipulation

Citation manipulation, including attempts to artificially inflate citation counts, is strictly prohibited.

  • Editors and reviewers must not request citations for personal, journal-level, or institutional gain.
  • Such practices violate JCCN’s ethical standards and COPE guidelines.
Duplicate Submission and Redundant Publication
  • Manuscripts submitted to JCCN must not be under consideration elsewhere.
  • Redundant or duplicate publications are handled in accordance with COPE guidelines.
  • Authors must clearly reference and justify overlap with any prior or concurrent publications.
Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

JCCN may issue:

  • Corrections for minor errors that do not affect conclusions.
  • Retractions for serious ethical breaches or unreliable findings.
  • Expressions of Concern when investigations are ongoing.

All notices are clearly linked to the original article and follow COPE Retraction Guidelines.

Complaints and Appeals
  • Complaints and appeals are handled fairly, transparently, and confidentially.
  • Investigations are conducted by the Editorial Office, Editor-in-Chief, or an independent editor without conflicts of interest.
  • Decisions after investigation are final and guided by COPE principles.
Sanctions for Misconduct

In cases of confirmed misconduct, JCCN and Ansis Publications may impose sanctions, including:

  • Rejection of the manuscript and related submissions.
